CMM Level 2

TranTech has achieved a SEI-CMM Level 2, Repeatable, rating based on the Capability Maturity Model (CMM) developed by Carnegie Mellon University’s Software Engineering Institute (SEI). SEI-CMM is an industry-standard benchmark to assess an organization’s software development process and methodologies. TranTech achieved its rating through an extensive CMM- Based Appraisal for Internal Process Improvement (CBA-IPI) conducted by an independent assessment team lead by a SEI-certified Lead Assessor in September 2002.

The CMM has become the de facto standard used by many private industry companies and government agencies to measure the effectiveness of IT organizations. Achieving Level 2 means that the processes for engineering and management activities have been formally defined, documented and integrated into an organization-wide standard for executing software projects. The formalization of such processes at the organizational level indicates the achievement of significant productivity improvements by way of quicker development cycles, lower applications support costs, and the continuous improvement in product quality.
