11-15-04 - Yahoo Finance News, "TranTech Awarded COMMITS NexGen Contract by Commerce Department ."

ALEXANDRIA, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 15, 2004--TranTech, Inc. (TranTech) announced today that the U.S. Department of Commerce has awarded the company an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) task order contract under the Commerce Information Technology Solutions Next Generation (COMMITS NexGen) program.

With an $8 billion ceiling over 10 years, COMMITS NexGen is a performance-based, solutions contract that uses a three-tier process for task order competition. Also a winner of the previous COMMITS contract, TranTech was one of 25 winners in the Tier II category for COMMITS NexGen, enabling the company to compete on ANY task order valued in excess of $5 million over the life of each contract.

The goal of the COMMITS NexGen program is to become the Government-wide Acquisition Contract (GWAC) vehicle of choice for federal agencies seeking high-quality, competitive information technology (IT) solutions from a pool of exceptionally qualified, high quality, small, small disadvantaged, small 8(a), small women-owned, small veteran-owned, service disabled veteran-owned, and small HUBZone businesses. The COMMITS NexGen GWAC provides agencies a low risk alternative of placing task orders for a wide range of IT solutions with small businesses like TranTech. The contract requires businesses to recertify their size every three years to assure that they remain in the appropriate tier.

TranTech executives stated that they will provide mission-critical IT solutions and services. "We look forward to providing government agencies the highest-quality information technology services they have ever received," said TiTi McNeill, TranTech's CEO and President. "TranTech has an exceptional track record with the Department of Commerce," added Atacan Donmez, the TranTech senior executive responsible for COMMITS NexGen Delivery, "and we intend to exceed our performance record."

In a related matter, TranTech also announced that the U.S. Census Bureau awarded the company a Fixed Price, $8.9M contract to plan, analyze, design, procure, integrate, and install the complete network infrastructure for the Bureau's new headquarters building. When complete, this single, fully converged network infrastructure will support all voice, video, and data over IP communications requirements for the Bureau's 5,000+ headquarters users.
